I have been producing stoneware, earthenware & Raku pots as well as teaching
ceramics for over 30 years. My workshop is set in 6 acres of woodland on the
banks of the river Tamar in the Tamar Valley on the Devon & Cornwall borders in
the Southwest UK.
The land the workshop is situated on has been largely left untouched, this has
resulted in the land becoming a haven for the numerous local wildlife. The Tamar
Valley has a long mining history and the workshop itself stands a hundred yards
from one of these mines, tin, copper and tungsten were once mined here, the
whole area is very rich in minerals and some of these minerals are similar to
those used in my Raku glazes.
In 1980 I set up my own workshop and started producing my own range of
stoneware which was sold in galleries throughout the UK. After setting up a
number of different workshops in different locations I moved to my present
workshop in 1996 which is set in woodland on the banks of the River Tamar in the
Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
