Description: Rufford Craft Centre is set in the picturesque grounds of a ruined C12 abbey close to Sherwood Forest. At the heart of the park are the picturesque remains of Rufford Abbey, founded in the 12th Century by Cistercian monks and later transformed into a grand country house for the Talbot and Savile families. The Craft Centre in the former stable block includes a Gallery with a changing programme of exhibitions, as well as Britain's first Ceramics Centre - proof of Rufford's growing reputation as a centre of excellence for British contemporary crafts. You can browse around the on-site shops, pause for coffee at the 'Coach House' or enjoy a traditional lunch in the Savile Restaurant, set in the former Victorian kitchen of the Abbey's restored Jacobean Wing. Rufford - where old and new, conservation and innovation go hand in hand. A place for everyone to enjoy!
