The Mexican ceramic industry is one of the more competitive internationally, and its level of exports, constitutes an important foreign exchange earner for our country. Approximately 70% of domestic production takes place in companies located in the northeast region, being the hub of Monterrey Mexican industry sector. Because of supply shortages in our country’s formal education programs in the area, domestic firms are forced to develop human resources through training in their own plants or, in the case of highly specialized personnel, sending engineers abroad which is an additional financial burden to their production costs.
The establishment of the Education program as a Masters in Ceramic Science and Engineering organized by the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, UANL, is intended to improve fundamentally the training of human resources in this area at the same time, work on specific development projects Product and / or improved technology in collaboration with industry.
Objectives
The overall objective of this postgraduate program is to train highly qualified human resources to contribute with their creative capacity to meet the priority needs of Mexican society and the University as well as achieving their own personal goals.
The specific objectives are:
1 .- To train specialists in an area so important to the national economy as ceramics.
2 .- To promote scientific research and technological development of both the UANL and the industry.
3 .- To deepen the relationship between university and industry, to provide both sectors the human and technological resources that help make them more competitive internationally through:
Development and / or improvement of new products
The improvement of existing production processes
Innovation all or part of industrialescerĂ¡micos processes.
Research Lines
Special attention to the following lines or fields of research:
Synthesis and characterization of new ceramic materials, ceramic and glass
Environmental Technology
Industrial Waste Recycling for use in the Ceramics Industry
Treatment and immobilization of toxic waste in cement bases of inorganic crystals.
Electrical Properties and crystal structure of solid materials.
Rechargeable solid state .
Heterogeneous Catalysis Solid – Gas .
Use of ceramic oxides in the abatement of pollutants such Nox, Sox and light hydrocarbons.
Entry Requirements
To enter the Master’s program is a prerequisite to have bachelor’s or intern letter Sciences and Engineering issued by a higher educational institution recognized by the Secretariat of Public Education or equivalent from another country. The intern must submit your degree title within one year from the date of admission to the program.
The Academic Committee will evaluate candidates and recommend the completion of undergraduate courses if considered necessary. May be considered special cases of income in which the Committee reserves the right to rule on the admission or otherwise of candidates.

For foreign students were also required the following documents:
Copy of certificate or diploma duly translated into Spanish and legalized by the Mexican consular authorities in the country of origin.
