No thicker than paper, a coating based ceramics could be used to protect cars, boats, or houses of intense heat (in a fire, for example).This material, developed by the Research Center of NASA was designed to protect the spacecraft during re-entry into the atmosphere, land, which can cause a rise in temperature of several thousand degrees. Over the past 25 years, the RWTH Aachen twice hosted the annual meeting of the German Ceramic Society.
